Reflecting on a Wonderful Weekend

I'm documenting everything from this weekend I can think of so that when Davis Bryan Mamantov is 15 or so and giving us hell, I'll have something to look back and remind me how adorable, sweet and fun he was.

We introduced the juice box holder, which is for me a cure for the squeezed boxes. As much as very wise women have taught me to open the ends, our little He-Man doesn't know his own strength. What is amusing to his mommy and daddy is in theory he's never seen this box before and yet he knows exactly that it's for holding his juice.

We also enjoyed another great dinner with corn, always offers a good amount of humor. Corn in the hair, butter smeared everywhere. He once again demonstrated his concern for others. He insisted that Mommy and Daddy both had to have their corn before he's eat his....and this time by getting to use the holders he also learned how to pull them out and poke himself with them. Daddy took them away, but at least he now knows that "sharp" things hurt.

Swimming went very well. He went to Coach George willingly and did some jumping and dunking, and we did some backside kicking with Mommy.

But it was really today that will be a day to remember. We started out with yummy french toast and pancakes and then on to the dog park to give our other "child" some attention with her buddies. We realized we've only been once since D was born. He loved it. We saw many big dogs, and almost all liked him as much as he liked them. He has learned to put his fist out first and we're still working on not petting a doggie's face unless we know them very well. He found it very interesting that the dogs liked getting in a big tub of water, like a bath. Poor Aspen was exhausted in 20 minutes so we walked around the rest of the park, Davis riding his Wiggle, and we found a shaded playscape with a very tall, fast slide.

We red heads got a little flushed, and we were all very tired when we got home. But we still managed to play quietly for 30 minutes -- reading books and playing with some stuffed animals as patients. Finally it was time for lunch, but it seemed we were too late. He was melting fast. After 15 minutes of "try this" or "Davis you need to eat one more bite", he obliged to our satisfaction and sat on the couch with Mommy for some milk and snuggles. Which apparently recharges the batteries, because he was then set on rearranging his whole play area.

At first it was just that he discovered the bins where he stores his toys actually come off the rack. Then, for some reason he felt compelled to empty ALL the bins with a swift flick of the wrist, spilling all the contents to the floor. But I was so curious to see WHY he chose to do this that we let him do it all. Finally, he stacked them all neatly within each other, knowing little ones go together, etc. (Don't worry, he and Daddy put it all back while I made dinner, better than before I must say.)

Nap time didn't last long enough considering how active our morning was, and Master D, was anything but cordial when he asked for his "ju". Here, I offer exhibit A, proof of our little monster's stubborn, dramatic side.

It finally passed, and we spent 2+ hours in the back yard playing with his sand table, him helping me pot some plants, blowing bubbles, and in general just us having a great afternoon.
