More Funny Davis Phrases

Let's see, today it was me in the car retorting to a whiny child -- "I don't want to hear it," I said. And from the back seat, in an equally sassy voice I hear, "I don't want to hear it, either." I had to muffle my laughter, first that he was able to use the word "either" correctly, and two, that he caught me being a snot. :)

This morning while trying to get him to eat breakfast, Davis was offering Bryan some of his muffin, very sweetly. Bryan says, "I'm sorry buddy, I just brushed my teeth." And without missing a beat, Davis does a big "aw!" in a deep voice, like he missed a strike or something. It was perfect. Great big laugh.

Documenting Davisms

Funny Davisms include....

"Hosgroppers" - the name of the bad guys in Bug's Life, (aka, grasshoppers)

"This is a big meal!" - I said this once after I put in the effort to make a whole meal from scratch. And now anytime there is more than one dish on the table... he proclaims it's a big meal. It's pretty cute, but I don't quite get the rewarding feeling I had hoped for, if it was genuine.

"That's a good deal!" -- Not sure where this came from, if we say it, but he uses it appropriately, and often. For example, we say we are going to the store, and then we are going to pick up some fresh bread to have for dinner... and he says, "well that's a good deal."

Potty Time with Crazy D

This is the classic Davis, and all we can do is listen and wait for the next laugh.

I tried to not expose him, but please don't be offended if you are flashed a little. :)

Oh and he watched Wizard of Oz a couple weeks ago at daycare and it made quite the impression. I swear we hadn't spoken of it since the last post, and he just randomly jumps into his story.

How to Build a Tent

I am not giving up my Flip yet. It's cracked and the company is defunct I guess, but I still have videos to share.

This would be Davis and Daddy doing what engineers do best. Building. This has become such a cute activity for them and it was all Bryan's idea. Seriously, 20 bucks, a ton of PVC and some clamps, an old sheet or two and you have yourself the best play thing when it's 100 degrees or 0 degrees and you can't go outside.

So observant

Lots of construction in our area and sitting at stop lights provides Davis some quality time to sit and watch.

Brick layers - "what's that man doing?!"
How do you explain stacking bricks and putting sticky stuff between them. My fear is he gets home and tries to do it with his legos and god knows what. ;-)

Road blocks - "what they blocking the road mommy?"
They are building a little wall in the middle... To keep the cars safe...I say. Doesn't seem to satisfy him. He asks over and over. He just sits while we are at the red light and stares. We drive away, and he wants to go back and watch them more.

New Words Every Day

This past week's vocabulary is worth recording. It seems we have grasped the sense of time. D used "never", "yet" and "late" all in sentences and pretty much got the use correct.

I believe the one phrase was "I NEVER get ice cream." Imagine an emphatic head twist with each word. This of course is completely not true -- so not sure whether to chalk this up to not understanding the meaning, or typical toddler exaggeration. :)

Pillows Pass the Test

Before I could put my new sham pillows on my bed, they had to pass the Davis test. Seems they are very fluffy and I guess we could say they are broken in now.

A Day of Discovery

For whatever reason, we stood in line for a pre-opening day to the Legoland Discovery Center. Nonny bought us the tickets and we had such a blast.

Here we are testing how sturdy our lego building is.

D was very proud to watch his car fly off the ramp. The kids learn what makes a car go fast and slow, based on using different tire sizes, how to space it out, what makes it sturdier. It's so neat, but it was a very busy day, so sorry for all the background noise.

The Davis version of Happy Birthday

I swear to you this unprovoked, unrehearsed.

Cutting the Meatballs

Love this demonstration of his independence and in this case, his table skills. :) I swear to you we had not literally shown him how to take the knife and put it between the fork prongs. We just gave it to him to spread his butter initially.

The Music Man Continues

I swear we haven't been overly teaching him or telling him to play the guitar, he has picked up this head banging and bouncing on his own. And as for the can banging, I think that was a true spurt of musical creative expression.

Sleeping Yoga

This is the latest yoga pose... It works so well he fell right to sleep. Pay no attention to his snug-fitting pjs. He's my little Kung Fu Panda

The Many Ways to Enjoy Corn

We spent the afternoon at the Corn Maize outside Lubbock, where you can ride through the maize on a cow train, shoot corn from a barrel gun at targets, see some farm animals, take a hay ride, and of course, walk through the maize.

Time with Grandma

Last weekend in Levelland, Davis and Grandma ("Mammaw" I haven't figured out how to phonetically spell how he says it) made cookies together.

As far as I know this was the first time for him to really do this. They also fed Grandma's adopted turtle, Spike, some lettuce and watched him hide under the bushes. They rode up and down the sidewalk on Davis' wiggle car and went to the fields near the house to pick cotton.

Friday Night Lights for Davis

We went to Daddio's 20 year high school reunion, and had fun watching the players and the band. And Daddy even got to walk out on the field and wave with his 1990 sign in his hands, along with 10 of his classmates.

Silly Faces

Now that Davis sits at the table in a big boy chair, he also seems to have more freedom to be silly. We had been swimming, we don't normally come to the table naked, I swear.

Sometimes to keep him entertained long enough to eat, we play games with him, like where is your nose, can you make a fish face... so that is what is going on here. Surprisingly enough, he's not trying to tune us out. Not yet, anyway.
